I. The Purpose.
To identify and to explain the spiritual requirements for the
effective witness of the Gospel. Proverbs 11:30 says, "He that wins souls is wise."
II Timothy 2:15 say's, " Study to show thy self approved unto God a Workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth."
II. One must be confident of their own salvation by faith in Christ. If one is in doubt of their own salvation can't be very convincing. There is a vital relationship between assurance and witnessing. Because many Christians have doubts regarding their salvation, they are reluctant to speak of it. (John 5:24; I John 5:12)
1. Assurance is based on the following three premises:
a. The Word of God.
- Faith is simply taking God at His Word.
- St. John 5:13 "These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God.
- Sins are forgiven.
- Hebrews 9:12 "Neither by the blood of goats and calves, but by his own blood he entered in once into the holy place, having obtained eternal redemption for us.
